The Daily Social: How to Get Your Social Media Ready for Snowbird Season in Vero Beach

Every fall, Vero Beach gets a second opening day. Starting in October and peaking by January, seasonal residents and winter visitors return to town, and most of them decide where to eat, shop, and book services by scrolling their phones first. If your social media still looks the way it did in the slow summer months, you are handing that traffic to whoever posted most recently. September is the perfect time to prepare, so here is a simple checklist to get your accounts ready before the first wave arrives.

1. Refresh Every Profile Before the First Wave Arrives

Start with the basics returning customers check first. Confirm your hours are current on Instagram, Facebook, and your Google Business Profile, especially if you extend them for winter. Update your bio with anything new, like online booking. Replace the pinned post from last spring, and reorder your Instagram Highlights so menu, services, and directions sit up front. A twenty minute profile audit prevents a season of 'are you open on Sundays?' messages.

2. Post a Welcome Back Series That Feels Personal

Snowbirds are loyal, and many follow you all summer from up north. Greet them like regulars, not strangers. Plan a short series for late October: a 'we missed you' photo of your team, a reminder of the favorites you kept, and a shout out to a few longtime customers who agreed to be featured. Ask 'When do you get back to Vero?' in the caption and reply to every answer so your account lands back in their feed right as they arrive.

3. Show What Is New and Answer Newcomer Questions

Returning visitors love discovering what changed, and first time visitors have no idea who you are. Cover both with one series. Film a short 'what's new this season' Reel showing renovations, new staff, or fresh menu items. Then build a few posts around the questions newcomers search for: where to park downtown, whether you take reservations, and how early to book in February. Use 'Vero Beach' and your neighborhood in the captions so these posts show up in search.

4. Plan a Season Kickoff Offer for Returning Customers

Give people a reason to visit early while you still have capacity. A welcome back special, a loyalty card that starts fresh in November, or a small gift for showing the post at the counter all work well. Promote it in a pinned post, in Stories, and as a Google Business Profile update. Keep the offer simple and the dates clear so it drives visits in the first few weeks and builds habits that last through April.

5. Schedule the Busy Months Now While You Have Time

Once season hits, you will be too busy to post consistently, which is exactly when consistency matters most. Use the quieter weeks in September and October to shoot photos, film a handful of Reels, and write captions for November through January. Load them into a scheduling tool so they publish on their own. Leave room for real time Stories, but let scheduled content carry the baseline while you focus on the customers at the door.

Snowbird season is the biggest opportunity of the year for most Vero Beach businesses, and the accounts that prepare in September win in January.
