Black Friday and Cyber Week flood every feed with big percentages and loud banners. If you run a small local business, you probably cannot match the margins of national chains, and you should not try. The good news is that shoppers also look for businesses they trust, and a thoughtful social media plan can bring in sales without a single deep discount. With four weeks left, now is the perfect time to build yours.

1. Start teasing two weeks early

The businesses that win the holiday rush are the ones customers already know are planning something. Two weeks out, begin dropping hints in your Stories and feed posts. Show a sneak peek of a new product, a limited bundle, or a special service slot. Ask followers to turn on notifications or tap a reminder button so they see your announcement first. Early teasers build anticipation and make your launch day feel like an event instead of an ad.

2. Offer value instead of a big markdown

You can stand out by giving customers something extra rather than cutting your price. Think free gift wrapping, a bonus add-on, a complimentary upgrade, an exclusive bundle, or early access for followers. These offers protect your profit while still feeling like a reward. Spell out the benefit clearly in your caption so shoppers understand exactly what they get when they choose you over a discount site.

3. Create a simple calendar for the whole week

Map out a post for Thanksgiving week, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Sunday, and Cyber Monday. Give each day a clear purpose, such as a story about your team, your featured offer, a thank you to local shoppers, a last chance reminder, and an online-only deal. Schedule everything ahead of time so you can spend the actual days answering messages and serving customers instead of scrambling for content.

4. Lean into the shop local message

Your biggest advantage is that you are a real neighbor. Share the story behind your business, show your storefront or work in action, and explain how every purchase supports local jobs. Photos and short videos of your owner and team feel far more genuine than polished graphics. People remember the faces behind a small business, and that connection often beats a lower price.

5. Make buying easy and answer fast

Holiday shoppers are in a hurry. Put your link in bio, booking page, or shop link at the top of every post, and pin your main offer to your profile. Use saved replies to answer common questions about hours, shipping, and availability within minutes. A fast, friendly response can be the difference between a sale and a customer who moves on to the next tab.

6. Follow up after the rush

The week after Cyber Monday is your chance to turn one-time buyers into regulars. Share customer photos with permission, post a heartfelt thank you, and invite new followers to join your email list or next promotion. Check which posts earned the most clicks and saves so you can repeat what worked next season.
