Gift cards are one of the easiest sales a small business can make. There is no inventory to pack, no shipping to worry about, and the customer often spends more than the card is worth when they redeem it. The catch is that most local businesses only mention gift cards on a sign by the register. Shoppers in Vero Beach start making lists in October, and social media is the perfect place to remind them that your business makes a great gift. Here are five ways to sell more gift cards before the holidays hit.

1. Make Buying a Gift Card a One-Tap Process

Before you post anything, make sure someone can buy a gift card from their phone in under a minute. Set up a digital gift card link through your point of sale system or website, then put that link in your bio, your link in bio page, and a pinned post. If the only way to buy is to stop in during business hours, you are losing every late night scroller who wanted to check a name off their list right then.

2. Show the Gift Card in Real Life

A plain graphic that says 'Gift Cards Available' is easy to scroll past. Instead, photograph or film the card in a real setting. Show it tucked into a stocking, sitting next to a cup of coffee at your shop, or being handed across the counter. Add a short caption that names who the card is perfect for, like the neighbor who is impossible to shop for or the teacher who deserves a break. Specific ideas sell better than generic reminders.

3. Run a Bonus Card Offer, Not a Discount

Discounting gift cards trains customers to wait for a sale. A bonus offer feels generous without cutting your price. Try buy a fifty dollar gift card and receive a ten dollar bonus card for the buyer. That bonus brings the purchaser back in January when business is slow, and the recipient still gets full value. Give the offer a clear start and end date, and post about it on your feed and in Stories at least three times during the window.

4. Post Gift Guides That Feature Your Card

Gift guide content performs well every holiday season because it saves people time. Create a carousel post with titles like 'Gifts Under Fifty Dollars for the Boater in Your Life' or 'Last Minute Gifts You Can Send From Your Couch' and include your gift card as one of the options. You can even partner with two or three nearby businesses to build a shared local gift guide, which puts your card in front of their followers too.

5. Use Stories and Reminders as Deadlines Approach

The two weeks before Christmas are when gift card sales spike, and digital cards are the ultimate last minute gift. Use the countdown sticker in Stories, post a reminder on the last shipping day that your gift cards arrive instantly by email, and share a quick reel on December 23rd and 24th for the procrastinators. Keep a link sticker on every one of those Stories so a viewer can buy without leaving the app.

Gift cards bring in cash before the holidays and bring in customers after them, which makes them one of the most valuable products you can promote this time of year. A little planning on social media now can turn a sign by the register into a steady stream of sales.
