The Daily Social: How to Share Holiday Hours and Schedule Changes on Social Media
By Curtis Carpenter, Founder, Vero Beach Social Media

Few things frustrate a customer more than driving across town to find a locked door. As the holidays approach, schedules change fast, and your social media is often the first place people look to check. A clear, repeated message about your hours protects your reputation, saves your team from a flood of phone calls, and even brings in extra business from people who now know exactly when to visit. Here is how to get it right.
1. Announce Early and Announce More Than Once
Do not rely on a single post. Share your holiday schedule about two weeks ahead, again a few days before, and one more time on the morning of any closure. Most followers will only see one of the three, so repeating the message is what makes sure it lands.
2. Make the Graphic Impossible to Misread
Use one simple image with your business name, the dates, and the exact hours in large, easy to read type. Skip clever design and crowded layouts. A customer scrolling quickly should understand your schedule in two seconds, so list each day on its own line and mark closed days clearly.
3. Update Every Place Customers Look
Posts are only part of the picture. Update the hours on your Google Business Profile, Facebook page, Instagram profile, and website banner as well. If your listings say one thing and your post says another, customers will trust the listing, so keep every source consistent.
4. Pin the Post and Add a Story Reminder
Pin your schedule post to the top of your profile so new visitors see it first. Then add it to a Story with a countdown or reminder sticker. Stories are perfect for last minute changes, like closing early for weather or reopening a day sooner than planned.
5. Give Customers a Reason to Come Before You Close
A closure can drive sales when you frame it well. Mention a last chance special, an early pickup option, or a gift card reminder in the same post. Something like 'Stop by Friday before we close for the weekend' turns a notice into a call to action.
6. Announce Your Return With Energy
When you reopen, post a friendly welcome back message with a quick photo of your team or space. It signals that you are open again, restarts the conversation with followers, and gives you a natural moment to share a reopening offer or new item.
Clear schedule communication is a small habit that builds big trust with local customers.
