The Daily Social: How to Use Teaser Posts to Build Buzz Before a Big Announcement
By Curtis Carpenter, Founder, Vero Beach Social Media

A big announcement posted with no warning often gets a quick like and a scroll past. Whether you are opening a second location, launching a new service, or hosting an event, the weeks before the reveal are a gift. Teaser posts let you build curiosity so that by launch day your local customers are already leaning in. Here is how to do it without giving everything away or overwhelming your feed.
1. Decide what you are hiding and what you are sharing
A good teaser reveals a feeling, not the full story. Pick one or two details you are willing to share, such as a launch month, a color, a shape, or a hint about who it is for. Keep the main detail secret until reveal day. Writing this down before you post anything keeps your teasers consistent and stops you from accidentally spilling the news early.
2. Plan a three to five post runway
Spread your teasers over one to two weeks. Start with a vague hint, follow with a closer look, then add a countdown as the date approaches. Too many teasers feels like noise, and too few feels like an afterthought. Three to five posts is the sweet spot for most small businesses, and it fits easily into a normal posting schedule.
3. Use close-up and partial visuals
Photos and videos that show only a corner, a shadow, or a blurred detail make people want to see the rest. Shoot a close-up of new packaging, a covered sign, or your hands working on something unseen. Short Reels with a hint of motion perform well because viewers replay them looking for clues.
4. Invite guesses and conversation
Ask your audience to guess what is coming, and reply to every comment. Questions like, what do you think we are cooking up, turn a passive post into a conversation, and comments tell the algorithm that your content matters. You can reward a correct guess with a small perk on launch day to keep people engaged.
5. Give your most loyal followers an early look
Use Close Friends, a broadcast channel, or your email list to share a sneak peek with your best customers first. Early access makes people feel valued, and those insiders are often the first to share your news. Ask them to tag a friend or save the post so the excitement spreads beyond your current followers.
6. Make reveal day easy to act on
When the big day arrives, post the full announcement and make the next step obvious. Update your link in bio, pin the announcement to your profile, and add a clear call to action such as book now, visit us Saturday, or reserve your spot. Then share follow-up Stories throughout the day to keep momentum going.
A great teaser campaign turns an announcement into an event.
